Public Gardens
This garden dates back from Victorian times (1875). It has remained in its original form in the centre of Halifax. The park is 17 acres and is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence with beautiful ornamental gates. Free concerts are hosted in the bandstand on Sunday afternoons in the summer.

AGNS houses a fine collection of contemporary and period art from Nova Scotia, Canada and the world. There is an excellent collection of folk art and a changing variety of temporary exhibitions.

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic
The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has a collection of marine history of Nova Scotia. You can also see one of the world's best collections of artifacts from the 'Titanic.'

This site is particularly fascinating for visitors interested in flora and fauna of Nova Scotia and First Nations artwork.

Halifax Citadel
This star-shaped structure is a complete defensive fortification. There is a themed presentation of the history of the citadel and Halifax. You will see the 78th Highland Regiment in action and ask questions of costumed interpreters. This is the place to hear bagpipes played as they should be. Listen for the noon gun, which marks lunch time for the whole of the city.

Pier 21
From 1928-1971, over 1 million immigrants took their first steps onto Canadain soil in this original immigration shed.Half a million troops departed for World War II from here. Re-opened on July 01,1999 this unique interpretive centre houses a 4-d multi-media show and a wall of ships which details the variety of vessels that transported the immigrants across the Atlantic Ocean. A visit not to be missed.

York Redoubt
This fortification has overlooked the entrance to Halifax Harbour since 1793. A visit here allows a spectacular view of Halifax Harbour and is a great outdoor activity. Bluenose II
The famous Bluenose II is Nova Scotia's sailing ambassador. A replica of the original schooner Bluenose, as portrayed on the Canadian Dime. Moored at the wharf of the Maritime Museum in Halifax. Two-hour harbour sailings are available. Check schedule for tours.

Alexander Keith's Brewery Tour
Keith's India Pale Ale has been produced in Nova Scotia since 1820. Take a tour and see how they did it way back then; it starts at the brewery and ends up, predictably, at the Stag's Head Tavern, where you may sample a pint. Located in a wonderful old building, The Brewery Market, this is a tour for all fans of ale. Admission: CAD8 Adults; CAD6 Seniors and Children 5-18. Tours run every half hour.
